81 -- PROTECTIVE COVERS FOR THE MK 41 VLS CANISTER SOL N68335-97-R-0261 DUE 073197 POC Jennifer Vaccaro Code 213JV, (732) 323-5129. Contracting Officer is D. McClure. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst intends to procure 20,000 Protective Covers to be used in the MK 41 VLS Canister. The protective covers to be procured are critical in protecting the seal assemblies of the MK 18 Canister Adapter Assemblies and the MK 165 Mod O Sill Assembly Adapters of the MK 41 Vertical Launch System (VLS) Canister from which both Standard and Tomahawk Missiles are launched. This item requires complicated molding systems, unique material handling and testing capabilities during the fabrication, molding, preconditioning and final testing of the covers, and precise density, flowrate, and enviromental conditions to ensure a fully conforming product. Specification Control Drawings will be provided with solicitation. A Water Cooled Aluminum Mold will be provided as GFM. This mold must be modified by the awardee prior to manufacturing the covers. First Article Required. Due 60 days after receipt of GFM mold. This is 100% set-aside for Small Business. Delivery is required at a rate of 2,000 units per month after approval of First Article. Production Units are FOB Destination; San Diego, CA. 100% Option. Option quantity units shall be delivered 2,000 per month, beginning 30 days after the last production unit delivery. Inspection and acceptance of production units at source. Inspection of First Article at source and acceptance at destination. Packaging IAW Best Commercial Packaging. MIL-I-45208 Required.
