The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to purchase MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer and accessiores on a competitive basis. The instrument will be used to engineer recombinant proteins for crystallization, and to characterize proteins involved in the chemistry of retroviral and phage recombination and transcription by NIDDK Staff. NIDDK require a matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionizationtime of flight mass spectrometer. The instrument must be capable of obtaining a m/z resclution on protein samples of 2500 for angiotensin and 1000 for myoglobin, with a mass accuracy of 0.05 % for external calibration and 0.02% for internal calibration. The instrument will be located on the NIH facilites amd must have a footprint no larger than 24" wide by 27" deep in order to fit on existing bench space and accommodate other planned uses for this room. This instrument must be hardware and software capable of delayed extraction, andmust be equipped with a video camera and monitor for sample viewing and a joystick for laser positioning. THe instrument must be equipped with a PC and PC driven automated data acquisition software, and the software must be flexible enough to incorporate a user-created method library. Positive and negative ion capability is required. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be in within the Simplified Acquisition Thereshold $ 100,000.
