Richard J. Lawrence, Richard.J.Lawrence.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. NASA/HQ plans
to issue a NASA Research Announcement (NRA) for science investigations
directed at improving the understanding of, and ability to predict, the
atmospheric effects of subsonic aviation at cruise altitudes. The
selected investigations will be conducted as part of the ongoing effort
by the Subsonic Assessment (SASS) element of NASA's Atmospheric Effects
of Aviation Project (AEAP) to assess the atmospheric impact of subsonic
aviation -- in particular, commercial aircraft cruise emissions. The
SASS effort is sponsored by the Advanced Subsonic Technical Program
within the NASA Office of Aeronautics and Space Transportation
Technology. New proposals, as well as renewal proposals for expiring
tasks, are desired for all of these areas. This solicitation is open to
all categories of organizations, foreign or domestic. This NRA will be
available electronically, on the release date, via the internet at the
Atmospheric Effects of Aviation "Home Page" at
<http://hyperion.gsfc.nasa.gov/AEAP> under NRA 97-OASTT-01. A
paper copy will be available to those who do not have access to the
internet by calling (202) 358-0833 and leaving a voice mail message.
This announcement will be open for the period from July 10, 1997,
through September 8, 1997, and proposals may be submitted at any time
during that period. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Note "B".
