Proposals from eligible business concerns will be accepted for the George Washington Memorial Parkway Project PRA/NPS-GWMP 1A75,77, in Fairfax County, Virginia. The project consists of the rehabilitation of the bridges over Dead Run and Turkey Run, including total replacement of the existing bridge decks with precast deck panels, and replacing the railing on the southbound Dead Run bridge, and on the northbound and southbound Turkey Run bridges. The work also includes hot asphalt concrete pavement placement, latex modified concrete overlay, stone masonry construction, and other miscellaneous work. Principal items of work and approximate quantities are as follows: Replace bridge deck, 3,600 m2, including 42,000 kg of prestressing steel; Hot asphalt concrete pavement, 3,400 metric tons; Structural concrete (latex modified) for bridge deck overlay, 4,070 m2; Bridge railing, 690 m; and Stone masonry guardwall, Type 1, 560 m. The project is expected to fall within the price range of $2,500,000 to $5,000,000. Evaluation of the proposals will be based on, but will not be limited to: The offeror's price; construction methodology; estimated contract completion time; and past performance history on similar construction projects. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates up to $500,000 to provide accounts receivable financing. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1,000,000 per contract. DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses.
