Y -- CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER SOL RFP 548-16-97 DUE 100197 POC Dinora Bruno, (561) 882-6511 The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a developer/operator for a Child Development Center at the VA Medical Center (VAMC) in West Palm Beach, FL. The Department's goal is to obtain a quality, on-site Child Development Center for children of employees of the VA and for children of non-VA employees using a special program called "Enhanced-Use Leasing". The center will be located on approximately .8 acre(s) of land on the VA Medical center campus, located at 7305 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL. The VAMC has approximately 1500 full and part-time employees and provides a full range of medical, surgical, psychiatric, dental and long-term care services to more than 30,000 veterans in the West Palm Beach metropolitan area and south Florida. Under the VA's Enhanced-Use Leasing program, the VA will provide a long-term lease (up to 30 years) on an approximately .8 acre site, to a competitively selected developer/operator. In return, the developer/operator will be required to finance, design, construct, and operate a Child Development Center (including outside play area, parking and drop-off spaces) with all site improvements, structures, and utilities necessary to support, in accordance with the State of Florida child care regulations and local building codes, a minimum of one hundred twenty (120) children of VA employees. The offeror may propose a center that would support more than 120 children up to the physical development capacity of the site. VA will soon be issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for this project.
