technical and engineering support for medium and major caliber naval
surface gun weapon systems, their interfaces with other systems and
subsystems, and the application of advanced and developing technologies
to those systems. Support will include 1) analysis and evaluation of
medium and major caliber Naval gun weapon systems performance including
interoperability and compatibility with combat systems, interface
systems, ammunition, subsystems and components, and the impact of
changes and modification to these items; 2) engineering requirements
such as design, integration, and analysis studies of medium and major
caliber Naval gun weapon systems' modifications, engineering change
proposals, ORDALTs, upgrades, and follow-on derivations; 3) analyses,
evaluation, and engineering change proposals implementing resolution of
medium and major caliber Naval gun weapon system design and performance
problems, failures, and issues; 4) engineering supplies and services in
support of medium and major caliber Naval gun weapon systems, including
test plans, test equipment, test articles/units, analyses, trouble
shooting, repair, maintenance, and reports; 5) investigation,
experiments, and proof of concept demonstrations associated with
advanced and developing technology introduction into medium and major
caliber Naval Gun weapon systems; 6) analyses, evaluations, and
engineering change proposals implementing resolutions of impacts and
issues associated with the integrated logistics support for medium and
major caliber Naval Gun weapon systems, and 7) requirements, designs,
and studies of medium and major caliber Naval Gun weapon systems
integration into new, altered or existing ship classes. The resultant
contract will provide for a five-year performance period under an
indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity type contract using a
cost-plus-fixed-fee (term and completion) pricing arrangement. This
acquisition will be fulfilled through other than full and open
competition with United Defense, L.P., Armament Systems Division, 1525
Wilson Boulevard, Suite 700, Arlington, VA 22209. Number Note 22
