COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 31,1997 PSA#1899MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY FOR AEROSPACE MATERIALS MEETING Concurrent
Technologies Corporation (CTC) will host a technology demonstration and
information exchange entitled, "Manufacturing Technology for Aerospace
Materials," at CTC's Manufacturing Technology Facility in Johnstown,
PA, on August 20-21, 1997. This meeting is sponsored by the National
Center for Excellence in Metalworking Technology (NCEMT) as part of its
mission to reduce costs and improve performance of Navy and Department
of Defense weapons systems. CTC operates the NCEMT for the U.S. Navy
Manufacturing Technology (MANTECH) Program. Guest keynote speakers will
describe Naval aviation advanced materials needs and the insertion
process for advanced materials production. Speakers from the NCEMT will
summarize NCEMT accomplishments in developing advanced manufacturing
technologies to reduce the cost and improve the performance of Navy/DOD
weapon systems such as the V-22 helicopter, the Tomahawk cruise
missile, and the F/A-18 EF fighter. These technologies include casting,
forming, welding, powder metallurgy, and surface and heat treatment
processes for aerospace materials. A tour of CTC's technology
demonstration facilities will also be available for all participating
U.S. citizens. This meeting is intended for managers and technical
personnel of government agencies and weapons systems program offices as
well as manufacturers and suppliers of aerospace systems, materials,
and components. The meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for
participants to exchange information about advanced manufacturing
technologies. Participants are encouraged to share their requirements
for advanced materials and production processes and provide feedback on
further applications for NCEMT developed technologies. For more
