Administration's Special American Business Internship Training Program
(SABIT), has a requirement for developing several programs to train
approximately one hundred (100) technical and regulatory experts from
Russia and the Other New Independent States of the former Soviet Union
(Interns) in the areas of U.S. Government and private sector processes
for standard development, conformity assessment and quality management,
food and beverage processing and packaging. The basic qualification
requirements for the SABIT standards are as follows: Knowledge of
history, government, demographics, and policies in the former Soviet
Union; Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in Russian;
Ability to perform liaison functions among various organizations
involved in the programs; Strong organizational skills, in particular
ability to organize, plan and coordinate logistics associated with a
group of 20 interns, including arranging ground transportation,
lodging, and domestic air travel if necessary; strong administrative
skills; strong intercultural communication skills; strong public
speaking ability. The training program will consist of six, training
sessions with approximately twenty (20) interns each. The Department of
Commerce will provide the first two weeks of orientation and training
for each of the five training sessions. The contractor will provide the
remaining six weeks or four weeks for each group. Period of performance
is estimated from August 1997 through August 1998 with one 12 month
