F -- SALE OF STANDING TIMBER SOL F31610-98-B0001 DUE 091597 POC SSgt Lynette Longino, Contract Specialist, (919) 736-6548, Ext 257 Sale of Standing Timber under SIC 2411 located on Dare County Air Force Range, which consists of harvesting Atlantic white cedar and loblolly tree species. The sale area is approximately 184 acres in size and is comprised of two forest types: 19 acres of Atlantic white cedar mixed with loblolly pine and scattered cypress trees and 164 acres of mature loblolly pine sawtimber with mixed hardwood trees scattered throughout. The sale area is located east of Dry Ridge Road and south of Navy lead-in Road on the range, on flat ground with an organic litter layer of about 12 inches. The area is typical of cedar swamp with the water table at or near the surface most of the year. An estimate is furnished to assist in determining quantities to be harvested, however, the Government gives no guarantee, expressed or implied, as to the total volume of stumpage which may be harvested. The estimated volume by species: Atlantic white pine (sawtimber) -- 3,015; Atlantic white pine (pulpwood) -- 1,047; loblolly pine (sawtimber) -- 678; loblolly pine (pulpwood) -- 85. The harvesting of trees under this contract shall be accomplished with the use of logging equipment that is conventional for the local area. Low pressure skidders equipped with wide tires or tracks should be used due to the ground and water table conditions that exist in the sale area.
