Kendrick, Contracting Officer, (540) 983-1048 The VA Medical Center, Salem, Virginia plans to issue IFB 658-39-97 o/a 08/22/97 for the renovation of existing space in Buildings 4, 12, and 143 for the establishment of a 21-bed Hoptel Unit and renovation of multiple clinics. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation and qualified supervision for demolition and construction to renovate approximately 9,670 SF of space on the first floor, Building 12 for the hoptel unit. The hoptel unit will include individual bedrooms, living rooms, private and shared toilets, lounge/dining facilities, soiled and clean linen rooms, storage, Guest Laundry Room, and check-in station. Work includes demolition, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, finishes, plumbing, and abatement of asbestos-containing pipe insulation and floor mastic. Building 4 shall be renovated to house the relocated Infectious Disease Laboratory to include casework renovations, fume hood installation, and electrical work. Renovations to Building 143, sencond floor include conversion of existing spaces on the second floor to Waiting Rooms, installation of corridor doors, casework and renovation of existing Exam/Treatment Rooms. First floor renovations include expansion of existing clinic functions into adjacent spaces (Opthalmology Clinic). SIC Code 1542 applies. This procurement is unrestricted. Work shall be completed within 295 calendar days from receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Written requests for the solicitation should be forwarded to the Contracting Officer at the above address with a refundable $100 bid deposit in the form of a certified Cashier's Check or Money Order. COMPANY CHECKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Refund of the bid deposit is contingent upon return of the solicitation package within 10 calendar days after bid opening. Solicitation packages will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis until the supply is exhausted. Twenty-five bid packages will be available.
