R -- THIS NOTICE IS TO PUBLICIZE USAID'S INTENTION TO ENTER INTO A SOLE SOURCE AMENDMENT WITH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATES, INC. USAID entered into a contract with Development Associates (DA), Inc. for a period of performance between October 1, 1993 until September 30, 1998 under the Family Planning and Health (FPH) Project. At this time, USAID/Santo Domingo is reviewing various options regarding a successor project to the FPH and does not anticipate completing its deliberations prior to the expiration of the existing contract. In order to ensure that essential FPH activities are not interrupted prior to the authorization of a successor project, it is necessary for the Mission to extend the existing DA contract for a 2 year period. The Mission has elected to pursue this amendment on a sole source basis due to the high costs associated with the mobilization of an in-country team, the need to ensure uninterrupted services and the extensive time required by the in-country team to develop effective working relationships with host country officials.
