All responsible sources may submit bids which will be considered by the
agency (see experience requirement below). This solicitation
solicitation is for the Steel Bulkhead construction project located at
the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Points, New York under SIC
1629. The work includes construction of approximately 1250 linear feet
of new steel sheet pile bulkhead outboard of the existing sheet piling
at the Mallory Pier and waterfront area west and south of the Yocum
Sailing Center; demolition of the existing Cressy Building; repairs to
the Cressy Pier and repair of the Crowinshield Pier wave screen. The
major items of work include but are not limited to the temporary
relocation and restoration of existing floats, boat hoists, davits, and
gangways; furnishing and installing approximately 500 feet of steel
sheet pile bulkhead and the appurtenant work required to connect the
new bulkhead to the existing bulkhead and tie rod anchorage along the
waterfront area west andsouth of the Yocum Sailing Center; extending
the existing outfall pipe bulkhead penetration opposite the Yocum
Sailing Center though the new bulkhead; furnishing and installing
approximately 825 linear feet of steel sheet pile bulkhead and tie rod
anchorage at the Mallory Pier; regarding and resurfacing of the
Mallory Pier and adjacent approach area; demolition, removal and
disposal of the one story Cressy building at Cressy Pier; replacing
timber pile caps, stringers, decking and hardware and installing new
lighting at the Cressy Pier as shown on contract drawings; and
installing approximately 35 linear feet of timber wave screen at the
west end of the Crowinshield Pier. A pre-bid conference/site visit is
planned for August 28, 1997. The solicitation includes an experience
requirement of 5 similar jobs in the last 5 years. The estimated price
range for this work is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. To receive
