The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for removal and demolition of one (1) heavily steel-reinforced concrete base/column (Weight: approximately 340,000 pounds, Overall Base/Column Height: 24 feet; Base: 8 feet x 26 feet x 10 feet High) located in Building 202, at the NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland facility. The Contractor shall (1) remove the base/column through a 19'W x 13'H roll-up door; and (2) haul away/remove it from the NIST facility. The base/column will need to be moved from its indoor location, across a room, for a distance of approximately 150 feet, to a roll-up door, in order to exit the building. A site visit will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 1997, at 10:00 AM, and is mandatory due to the confined quarters housing the base/column. Offerors shall meet with the Contract Specialist and Technical Personnel in Building 301, Room B117 (Contracts Office) promptly at 10:00 AM, and depart together for the site visit. Offerors are encouraged to notify Tamara Grinspon by phone, at (301) 975-4390, of their intention to participate in the site visit. All work shall be completed on or before September 30, 1997. Offerors shall submit quotations, as well as proposed method(s) of fulfilling this requirement. THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORMAT IN FAR SUBPART 13.106-2(a)(2), AS SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS NOTICE. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION; QUOTATIONS ARE BEING REQUESTED AND A WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition circular 90-46. The standard industrial classification (SIC) code is 1799 and the small business size standard is $7 million. The Government anticipates award of a firm fixed price purchase order. The following FAR clauses apply to this acquisition: FAR 52.222-41, Service Contract Act of 1965. In accordance with Wage Determination No. 94-2103, Revision No. 14, the employee class and monetary wage-fringe benefits are: Truckdriver, Heavy Truck (Occupational Code 31363) $15.54 per hour; Heavy Equipment Operator (Occupational Code 23440) $18.66; and Rigger (Occupational Code 23850) $18.39.
