R -- STATE LONG TERM CARE POLICY AND PROGRAM INFORMATION DATA COLLECTION PROJECT POC Edwiena Edwards,Contracting Officer,(410)786-1607 In accordance with FAR 6.301-1, the Health Care Financing Administration intends to modify contract number 500-97-0002 with the University of California at San Francisco to further examine impediments to States' creation of community-based long term care systems through an examination of existing statutes and regulations to identify restrictive language which may be detrimental to improving the balance between institutional and home and community based services. Issues related to the inappropriate medicalization of long term care services will also be addressed. The proposed modification will also extend the goal of encouraging provision of long term care services in community, rather than institutional settings by undertaking two related studies.
