Asbestos Abatement, logans@doleta.gov. The work involves renovation of
toilet/shower rooms of seven dormitories with related asbestos
abatement from the dormitories' laundry rooms and reroofing of ten (10)
buildings with related asbestos abatement. The toilet/shower renovation
work consists of renovation of six (6) toilet/shower rooms in each of
seven dormitories and includes: asbestos abatement; removal of existing
finishes, walls and ceilings; plumbing, plumbing fixtures and
electrical work as required to accommodate the new work; provisions of
leak-proof barriers; conversion of group shower rooms to individual
shower/dressing compartments; installation of new finishes, walls,
ceilings and partitions; reuse or replacement of existing lavatories,
urinals, water closets and other toilet/shower room fixtures and
equipment as specified; and provisions of ventilations, electrical
upgrades and repair of plumbing leaks. Dormitory laundry room asbestos
abatement is to be conducted in each of the three laundry rooms in
each of the seven dormitories and consists of removal of
asbestos-containing pipe joint compound and pipe joint reinsulation.
Construction time for the toilet/shower renovation and laundry room
abatement is phased so that the work willproceed in one vacant
dormitory at a time (eight weeks construction time within each
dormitory) and will allow one week between construction phases for
students to move out of and vacate the next dormitory. There will be no
toilet/shower renovation or laundry room asbestos abatement during the
student move time periods. The reroofing work includes asbestos
abatement, demolition and removal of existing roofing materials,
including built-up roofing and metal roofing, and installation of new
roofing. Work will be performed on occupied buildings and will proceed
independently of the toilet/shower renovation work. The construction
completion date of the project is estimated to be 462 calendar days
from Notice to Proceed. The estimated cost range for construction is
between $1 million and $5 million. Plans and Specifications will be
available on or about October 7, 1997, only from the
Architect/Engineering firm of Harrison and Spencer, Inc., 438 Cotton

not be accepted. It is emphasized that requests must be in writing and
a $150 refundable bid-deposit is required. This bid-deposit must be in
the form of a certified check, cashier's check, or money-order, made
payable to the U.S. Department of Labor, and submitted to the A/E firm
at the time of the request. Plans and Specifications will be made
available for pick-up at the A/E's office, or may be arranged for
delivery at an additional charge. Any additional shipping and/or
handling charges must be pre-paid and COD requests will not be
acceptable. Requests will be answered on a first-come first-serve basis
until the initial supply is exhausted. For requests made after the
initial supply is exhausted, a non-refundable fee not toexceed the
actual cost of reproduction of the IFB documents (to be determined by
the Contracting Officer) plus a shipping charge based on individual
request (if applicable) will be required in order to obtain the IFB
documents. Pre-bid Walk-Thru is scheduled for October 22, 1997 at 10:00
A.M. local time at the Center. Bid Opening is scheduled for November
20, 1997, at 10:00 A.M local time at the A/E's office. NOTE: This is a
100% Small Business Set-Aside Acquisition. The Standard Industrial
