COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 17,1997 PSA#1932Cdr, U.S. Army Chemical and Biological Defense Command, Procurement,
Attn: AMSCB-PCB, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21010-5423 A -- ANTI-RIOT/CROWD DISPERSING MUNITION DUE 102097 POC Technical
Point of Contact Henry St. Pierre (410) 671-5527 The Product Manager
for Smoke/Obscurants is interested in determining if there exists in
the commercial sector an anti-riot/crowd dispersing munition for
application to military vehicles. The primary purpose of the munition
is to employ non-lethal methods to disperse a rioting crowd. Some
concepts that PM-Smoke is currently exploring for this application
include explosively dispersed rubber balls and sound/flash
pyrotechnics. The munition must possess the following characteristics:
a. Be compatible with existing United States and United Kingdom 66
millimeter grenade dischargers. b. Have an effective range of 100
meters or more from the launch point. c. Disperse a crowd through means
other than chemical irritants (does not subject targeted crowd to any
inhalation hazards). d. No component shall cause any undue
safety/health hazards to the targeted, rioting crowd. e. Shall be in
production or currently undergoing approval for use by civilian police
or military forces. There is no commitment on the part of the U.S.
Army to award a contract as a result of this request for information
nor to pay for the information received. Interested sources should
provide written notification and include product literature and price
lists by 20 Oct 97. Potential suppliers should send information to:
