Responding to the growing needs for training in both the military and commercial maritime world, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, at Kings Point, New York, has dramatically expanded its Continuing Education Program. In addition, Continuing Education regularly develops customized programs to meet the specific needs of military organization. During the past few years, USMMA Continuing Education has worked closely with several Navy, Army and Coast Guard Reserve Units to develop and offer a wide variety of courses including technical "hands-on" training wich makes use of the numerous engineering and machine ship labs, a sophisticated radar lab, electronics lab, bridge simulator, and communication simulators as well as dozens of Academy vessels and the 240'training ship. Most Programs offered by USMMA Continuing Education can be developed as a one or two week AT course, or, spread over a number of weekends over several months. Lodging arrangements are available in the Continuing Education Guest Facility or through local hotels, excellent meals are available in a special dining room.
