COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 17,1997 PSA#1953U.S. Department of Justice, Procurement Services Staff, National Place,
Suite 1000, 1331 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20530 70 -- ADP OFFICE AUTOMATION CONTRACT EXTENSION SOL 9C-Y-JMD-0042 POC
Nancy Feeney (202) 307-1976 The Department of Justice (DOJ) intends to
negotiate on a sole source basis an extension of a contract with
Tisoft, Inc of Fairfax, VA. During this extension period, the
government will continue purchasing systems integration services which
are currently provided for the ADP Office Automation needs of DOJ's
Offices, Boards, and Divisions. The extension is necessary due to
unforeseen delays which arose while migrating to a replacement office
automation contract. The existing system to be supported contains an
essential proprietary software known as Data Processing Network (DPN)
which is mission critical to the department. Tisoft holds the propriety
rights to DPN which is an essential part of the system architecture.
DOJ has determined that Tisoft is the only firm capable of providing
the services required to maintain the viability and interoperability of
the network. The contractor has unique experience and expertise as well
as specific knowledge of past and on-going engineering and development
plans essential to successful continuation of department wide tasks.
It is anticipated that the contract extension will be for a period
beginning 12/1/97 and ending 6/1/98 or at the date of final transition
of services to a competitively awarded replacement contractual
vehicle. No solicitation is available for this sole source acquisition.
Authority for this is found under 41 USC 253(c)(1) and (2). See Notes
22 and 26. (0288) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0228 19971017\70-0003.SOL)
