Contracting Officer, 301-496-0193 The Therapeutics Research Program
(TRP), Division of AIDS (DAIDS), National Institute of Allergy and
Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), has
a requirement for an Immunology Quality Assessment Program to ensure
the integrity and comparability of immunological measurements conducted
on blood from patients participating in multi-center HIV/AIDS clinical
trials. The Contractor shall be required to obtain, characterize,
document, store and distribute quality control materials, such as whole
blood, plasma, cells from HIV positive and negative donors. These
materials shall be provided periodically to 80-100 designated
laboratories for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating their ability
to perform immunological measurements. In addition, quality control
materials and other reagents shall be provided to designated
laboratories in order to facilitate comparative evaluations of
instruments and/or methods, and for the purpose of identifying and
quantifying sources of variability invarious immunological assays. The
Contractor shall provide and maintain a computerized database system
that supports this Immunology Quality Assessment Program. Responders
must be experienced in the area of development and evaluation of
immunological assays and their implementation in multi-site clinical
investigations and in data management. It is anticipated that one (1)
cost reimbursement type contract will be awarded for a period of seven
(7) years, beginning approximately October 1, 1998.
