COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF DECEMBER 4,1997 PSA#1985Fluor Daniel Fernald, P.O. Box 538704, Cincinnati, OH 45253-8704 SALE OF MINIUMUM ADDITIVE WASTE STABILIZATION SYSTEM (MAWS) The
Minimum Additive Waste Stabilization System (MAWS) is a laboratory
scale system to test the feasibility of encapsulating solid/liquid
mixed waste material within glass beads. Waste or surrogate materials
were used for the test. Surrogate materials were blended in a manner to
simulate the physical properties and consistency of the radioactive
waste material that were stored in site silos. Encapsulation of waste
provides a stable, unreactive product which eliminates storage and
shipping problems associated with the radioactive mixed waste
materials. Please refer to our Internet home page
(http://www.fernald.gov/) for details on this system. If you should
have any questions you may contact Pam Wright (513) 648-7608 or Jean
Skiff (513) 648-7625. (0336) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0364 19971204\SU-0001.MSC)
