COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF DECEMBER 8,1997 PSA#1987Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Puget Sound, Bldg 467 W Street,
Code 200 Bid Desk, Bremerton, WA 98314-0051 34 -- WELDING CURRENT SWITCHING CIRCUIT DUE 121697 POC M. Klose, (360)
476-7265 and/or C. Bender (360) 476-7265 The following information is
provided as a sources sought/market survey of industry to see if there
are potential contractors who have a commercial, non-developmental
product to meet the government's requirements. Puget Sound Naval
Shipyard is interested in acquiring a welding current switching circuit
for electrical arc welding machines to automatically switch the welding
voltage to the welding rod On and Off. On is defined as welding voltage
present ready-to-weld. Off is defined as a low enough open circuit
potential with relation to the workpiece and to earth ground so that
the welder operator cannot be electrically shocked. Automatically is
defined as having the welding voltage switched On, only when the
welding rod is brought into close proximity with the workpiece. The use
of solid-state devices such as, but not limited to, Integrated Gate
Commutated Thyristors (IGCT), is encouraged. Information regarding
availability, lead time for development, and lead time for delivery is
requested. Both positive and negative responses are welcome. Those
interested parties may request a copy of the specification by writing
or faxing their request to the Fleet & Industrial Supply Center
(address noted above), to the attention of Monique Klose (Code 204.MK).
