70 -- TMP 3900 TURBO MICR PRINTER AND MICR RIBBONS SOL FMHQ98R0005 POC Betty Wallace (202) 874-7126 The Department of Treasury, Financial Management Service (FMS) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Troy, a Division of Pierce Companies, Inc., 2331 S. Pullman Street, Santa Ana, CA 92705, for a TMP 3900 Turbo 144 Column Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) Printer and MICR ribbons. The printer is required to work in conjunction with an IBM 3900 and IP 4000 AFP Laser Printer operating at rated speed of 229 pages per minute, shall be fully AFP compatible, capable of printing a MICR line at least every 3.25 inches using the E13B font and shall meet all American National Standard Print Specifications for MICR (ANSI/ABA), X9.27-1988. Maximum print positions 144, maximum print width 18 inches, horizontal spacing 8 characters per inch, and maximum form width 23 inches. The MICR printer will be linked to the IBM 3900 or IP 4000 controller via the IBM intelligent interface to provide precise MICR location on the form and permit full AFP job recovery. The period of performance will be from contract award through twelve consecutive months, with two one year options. Firms having the capability to furnish the printer and ribbons shall submit a technical capability statement within fifteen days from the date of this publication. Copies of the RFP will not be furnished to firms who have not submitted technical capability statements. No telephone requests will be honored. All requests for copies of the solicitiation shall be in writing. The solicitation release date is approximately January 9, 1998.
