K -- HULL MODIFICATION OF AAV7A1 FAMILY OF VEHICLES POC Robin Richards (703) 784-5822/x232 The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is seeking interested sources capable of modifying the Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) hull. This effort is part of the AAV Reliability, Availability and Maintainability/Rebuild to Standard (RAM/RS) Program. Modification of the AAV hull will enable the installation of a modified suspension system and new engine to the vehicle. The scope of work will include, but is not limited to, welding and machining of stripped ballistic aluminum alloy hulls. Offerors shall have the capability to lift and maneuver a vehicle hull, with approximate dimensions of 130 inches width,130 inches height, 321 inches length, and 30,000 pounds weight. The Marine Corps Logistics Bases will be responsible for rebuild of 680 vehicles; however, neither Maintenance Center (Albany, GA or Barstow, CA) is facilitated to perform the required efforts to the AAV hull modifications. The vehicles will be disassembled at either Maintenance Centers and shipped to a contractor for modification to the AAV hulls. Interested sources shall possess all the capabilities necessary to perform this effort and the Government does not intend to provide the necessary facilitation, equipment or tooling to any contractor for performance of the hull modifications. The Marine Corps intends to conduct an Industry Meeting with capable sources that are interested in this requirement, on 22 January 1998 at the Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, GA. During this time, a briefing of the program and acquisition strategy will be given, in addition to availability of viewing of a lot number of the AAVs.
