The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to issue a request for
proposal (RFP) N00024-98-R-4057 to procure the following Items: Basic
-- Thirty-four (34) shipsets of Ring Laser Gyro Navigation (RLGN)
AN/WSN-7 Systems, up to six thousand (6,000) man-hours of contractor
technical/test program support, provisioned item order and associated
data; Option 1 (FY 99) -- Up to a maximum of forty-nine (49) RLGN
AN/WSN-7 Systems, up to six thousand (6,000) man-hours of contractor
technical/test program support and associated data; Option 2 (FY 00) --
Up to a maximum of sixty (60) RLGN AN/WSN-7 Systems, up to six thousand
(6,000) man-hours of contractor technical/test program support and
associated data. Notwithstanding the maximum quantities under the basic
and two options, in no event will more than one hundred and thirty
(130) shipsets of RLGN Systems be procured under this RFP. The above
Items will be procured from Sperry Marine, Inc., 1070 Seminole Trail,
Charlottesville, VA 22901-2891. The RLGN AN/WSN-7 is an inertial
navigation system to be used onboard ships and submarines and is
capable of operating for extended periods without need of navigation
updates from external sources. The systems will be delivered from
February 1999 through (if all options are exercised) October 2002. As
the designer and sole producer of RLGN AN/WSN-7, Sperry Marine is the
only company that possesses the design, data and expertise necessary to
fabricate, assemble and deliver this highly complex equipment within
the time constraints to meet mission requirements. (See Numbered
