This contract is to provide for Law Enforcement Services at the Nevada Test Site (NTS). DOE/NV intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source for this effort (i.e., Nye County Sheriff, P.O. Box 831, Tonopah, Nevada 89049). The Nye County Sheriff's Department is the only legally constituted law enforcement agency that can provide the required services at the NTS. While other law enforcement agencies outside of Nye County may be willing to provide the services that DOE/NV requires on the Test Site, they do not have statutory authority to provide law enforcement outside of their respective jurisdictions. Since the area of the Test Site lies entirely within Nye County, the Nye County Sheriff's Department is the only law enforcement agency that is legally able to provide these services. (0028)
