COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 20,1998 PSA#2036N/A Industry input is requested on the following contractual issue: It
is anticipated any contract resulting from the refueler or firetruck
overhaul solicitation will be a firm fixed price (FFP) type contract
with a minimum of 5 years coverage. Would you be willing to propose on
a FFP type basis for more than 5 years? If so, how many years? (Note:
The maximum coverage needed would not exceed 10 years.) If you would
not be willing to propose ___ on a FFP basis beyond 5 years, is there
any circumstance in which you would? For instance, would you be willing
to propose beyond the 5th year if an "Economic Price Adjustment" clause
was included in the solicitation and resultant contract, which would
allow upward or downward adjustments in the fixed prices for economic
fluctuations? No adjustment would be made if fluctuations in the
indices published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics caused increases or
decreases of 2% or less in the individual unit price. Please fax your
