SOURCES SOUGHT -- AIRCRAFT BALLISTIC PROTECTION SYSTEM. The Technology Applications Program Office is seeking sources to design, fabricate, test, and install up to 120 Crew and 60 passenger sets of aircraft ballistics protection systems on U.S. Army MH-47, MH-60 and MH-6 aircraft. The ballistic protection systems must meet all requirements for an aircraft Air Worthiness Release. In general terms, the ballistic systems will be a removable system for each aircraft. The installation kit, capable of installation by two crewmen, will require minimal modification to the aircraft. A quick on/off kit is desired. Potential sources must have the capability to cut, fabricate and produce ballistic systems of ballistic materials, both exotic and industry recognized metals and composites. In order to be involved in additional pre-solicitation market research to be conducted for this requirement we request that interested sources provide the following information: (1) past experience with aircraft armor; (2) A listing of aircraft currently operating with a system designed and/or fabricated by your firm; (3) A description of installation kits carrying air worthiness certification from any military service or the FAA designed or fabricated by your firm; (4) Company experience with exotic materials, metals, or composites, (5) A description of production capabilities; (6) Capability to conduct G-load testing; (7) Knowledge and experience working to achieve air worthiness certification for ballistic systems; (8) Identify whether or not your firm currently possess a security clearance level SECRET or higher.
