This project is for removal of approximately 2,000,000 cubic yards of maintenance material from the Gulfport sound channel. The material will be disposed in open water disposal areas adjacent to this channel. All of the work will occur in the exposed areas of the Mississippi sound which requires a large hull dredge to withstand the rough sea conditions. The dredge shall be of sufficient size (not less than a 24-inch nor more than 30-inch discharge,) and with ladder of an appropriate length and construction to work efficiently in a cut with a bottom width of 220 feet and a depth of no greater than 40 feet. The materials to be dredged consists primarily of mud, silt, and sand, however it will be intermixed with clays and shell. Bid documents are available on or about 7 April 1998. Estimated cost of work is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Critical Path Method (Network Analysis System) Is Not Required. For this job, a small business is defined as having average annual receipts of less than $13,500,000.00 for the past three years.
