48TH ANNUAL BOMB & WARHEAD AND BALLISTICS TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM This classified (SECRET-NOFORN) symposium provides government and industry researchers, developers and program managers, a forum for the interchange of ideas related to the advancement of bomb and warhead and ballistics technology. The theme, "Innovations in Technology and Applications", was selected to reflect the changing requirements, limitations, and opportunities which face munitions designers and evaluators. The current fiscal constraints and world political situation necessitates development of weapons that do more with fewerresources. The emergence of modeling and simulation techniques as powerful tools permits conservation of resources by demonstrating weapon designs whose performance has already been predicted by analysis. Intelligent integration of tests and simulations will help designers to meet the challenges -- evaluation of new designs, prediction of performance, assessment of manufacturing effects, and prediction of stockpile requirements and weapons lifetimes. The program is of central interest to warhead scientists and engineers, interior and exterior ballisticians, system effectiveness engineers, warfare systems project engineers, advanced system planners and directors of advance research, development and engineering.
