engineering services and related test reports to ruggedize a
Commercial, Off-The-Self Advanced pathogen Identification Device
(thermocycler) for use in a deployable environment. A firm-fixed price
contract is contemplated. This item must have the ability to identify
extremlely small specimen quantities of pathogens in less than two
hours and to operate in a deployable environment for field evaluation.
It must allow for real-time reaction analysis, eliminating the need to
perform both DNA amplification and separate product anayisis. It must
weigh less than 40 pounds and be operational within 30 minutes of
arrival on site. During the reaction process it must display: cycle
temperature, cycle number, quantitation data, and reaction times. This
acquisition will be negotiated on a sole source basis with Idaho
Technology, of Idaho Falls, ID pursuant to FAR 6.302-1; Services are
available from only one responsible source and no other type of
supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Telephone, fax,
