Nelson, Contracting Officer, 202/874-5040 The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), a Bureau in the Treasury Department, intends to issue a purchase order under the Simplified Acquisitions (SA) process to NAFEO Services Summer Intern Program, Black Higher Education Center for recruiting and providing students for summer internships at OCC. This purchase order will serve as a component to the OCC's commitment to expand and strengthen the role of minorities in support of the OCC's mission, and enhancing possible employment opportunities in the OCC or with other components of the Federal government. In this effort, OCC recruits students for summer internships at OCC to expose them to a professional working environment and to assist them in further developing their employment skills. One of the strategies for pursuing excellence in the OPM program is participation in the NAFEO national intern program. NAFEO concentrates on providing minority students (with an emphasis on African Americans) whose grade point average is a minimum of 3.0 for internships with government departments/agencies concentrating in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Because of NAFEO's extensive network of minority students and their location in the D.C. area, the OCC will award a sole source purchase order to NAFEO for recruitment of summer interns. NAFEO offers an expanded recruitment resource to the OCC because of its access to highly educated minority students. Under the purchase order, NAFEO will provide the OCC with several summer interns. As a result, the OCC will obtain summer interns while expanding its commitment to strengthening the role of minorities in support of the OCC's mission. Therefore, this procurement is sole source and no solicitation is available. Letters and telephone requests for a copy of a solicitation will not be accepted and are considered nonresponsive to this CBD announcement. However, vendors with this capability may submit a proposal with pricing to be considered by the Government no later than 15 days from the published date of this announcement. (0127)
