58 -- ACOUSTIC DECK UNIT, HYDROPHONE, ELECTRONIC SUBASSEMBLY SOL N00253-98-R-0008 DUE 062498 POC Julie Peterson The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Keyport (NUWCDK) intends to solicit one each of the following Underwater Telemetry components for use in the existing Portable Underwater Tracking Transducer (PUTT) Systems: Acoustic Deck Unit, Benthos part number DS-7000-1; Hydrophone, Benthos part number RAFOS-2; and Electronic Sub-Assembly (circuit board), Benthos part number B-855-108. The analysis and design of the PUTT system used government-owned Benthos Incorporated components. Benthos Inc owns the proprietary intellectual properties/specifications (software and circuit design). The Government cannot provide specifications for a competitive procurement. Therefore, the Government intends to negotiate this requirement with Benthos Inc, 49 Edgerton Drive, North Falmouth, MA 02556-2826 on a sole source basis. This procurement will be made in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. The solicitation will be issued on or about 9 Jun 98 with a 15 day closing.
