The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division anticipates an award of a Firm-Fixed Price Commercial Item Contract for a LIGHT WEIGHT GYRO PEDESTAL SYSTEM, (1) unit each; with options for (1) Joystick and one (1) Display Unit. These sensors require good line of sight stabilization and smooth servo response to minimize image blur and to provide accurate position and attitude data. The system shall be designed for remote control by a joystick and/or a host computer. The system shall accept digital commands from the host computer allowing it to be completely controlled by the host. The pedestal system shall also provide pointing data, mode settings, limit settings, maximum acceleration and velocity settings, and status information to the host. The pedestal shall be exterior deck mounted on ships and exposed to salt, moisture, and dirt. The control electronics shall be separate from the pedestal but shall also be environmentally sealed and adequately cooled. The optional joystick and display shall beremote from the control electronics by an RS-232 interconnect. The pedestal shall be installed on ship or helicopter platforms to support various systems testing. The specifications will be included with the solicitation. The required delivery for the Gyro Stabilized Pedestal is 120 days after contract award. Required delivery for Joystick and/or the Display Unit is 120 days after exercise of option if exercised. FOB Destination. It is anticipated that a Request for Proposal will be issued on 3 June 1998 with a requirement for proposal receipt by 19 June 1998. Award of this contract is anticipated for 1 October 1998. This procurement will be processed as an Unrestricted Procurement.
