each SM-875A/ALE Flare Simulators manufactured in accordance with Naval
Air Systems Command drawings and NSWC Crane Specifications. Two options
will be included for quantities of 100,000 each. Manufacture will be
required in accordance with ISO 9000 or MIL-Q-9858. Compliance with
Aeronautical Requirements 92 Quality Program Requirements shall also be
required. The Simulator, Flare SM-875A/ALE consists of a plastic candle
housing containing a magnesium-sodium nitrate flare candle or a
magnesium-Teflon-Viton flare candle which is assembled in a plastic
case. It is 1.42 inches in diameter, 5.83 inches long and weighs 92.4
grams. The flare simulator is designed to be dispensed from the
AN/ALE-29, 37, 39, or 47 Dispenser System and requires a CCU-63/B or
CCU-136/B Impulse Cartridge for functioning. The flare simulator is an
air countermeasure pyrotechnic, fire hazard item, which is ejected
from aircraft. When initiated, the simulator burns at a high
temperature for a relatively short time to produce a visible display
for the simulation of decoy flares. A first article consisting of 140
each flare simulators shall be required 180 days after effective date
of contract. Delivery of production quantities shall commence 90 days
after first article approval. Delivery of production quantities is
required at the rate of 10,000 each per month until complete. All
responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered.
This is just a reminder that for all solicitations issued after 31 May
1998, an offeror will be ineligible for award unless it has registered
