433-2893. (i)The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk, Detachment
Washington, has a requirement for a high temperature fluidized bed heat
treating furnace with a useable working zone dimension of not less than
20" diameter by 48" deep. The equipment will be used for hardening,
carbonizing and nitriding alloy steels and tool steels. Onsite training
services shall be required. A pre-proposal site visit is scheduled for
Tuesday, 16 JUNE 1998, at 10:00 a.m., at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard,
Bldg. 234, Portsmouth, VA. Those interested in attending the site visit
shall submit the following information to Sandy Wright at fax (202)
685-0002, no later than 3:30 p.m. on 08 JUNE 1998: Company Name, Names
of those attending site visit, social security number, date and place
of birth for all those attending the site visit. This information is
necessary to determine security clearances for access to the shipyard.
Based on market research, the Government is not using the procedures
contained in FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, in its
solicitation for the described supplies and services. Anticipated
release date for the solicitation is 01 JULY 1998. The solicitation
