Chavis, gchavis@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and
Armaments Command, Armament Research, Development and Engineering
Center (TACOM-ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey, in support of
Project Manager (PM) Small Arms, has a requirement for a commercial or
modified commercially available zero to six hundred (0-600) meter iron
sight for the M4 carbine and the M16A4 rifle. Of particular interest
are sights which occupy as little area and as few rail cross slots as
possible. It must not be detachable by the rifleman, and should be
attachable using implements in a unit armorer's tool kit only. The iron
sight shall attach to the rear of the upper receiver rail only and must
fold over, rearward, in order to allow the attachment of other sighting
devices to the upper receiver rail. The proposed contract will be a
firm-fixed price contract for fifty (50) units (basic), and a maximum
option quantity of 96,364. This procurement will utilize the commercial
item acquisition practices outlined in Part 12 of the Federal
