58 -- UPGRADE OF GOVERNMENT-OWNED DICES II SYSTEM TO DICES III SOL RFQ3-103159 DUE 062298 POC Timothy C. Pierce, Contract Specialist, Phone (216) 433-2147, Fax (216) 433-5185, Email Timothy.C.Pierce@lerc.nasa.gov WEB: Click here for the latest information about this notice, http://nais.nasa.gov/EPS/LeRC/date.html#RFQ3-103159. E-MAIL: Timothy C. Pierce, Timothy.C.Pierce@lerc.nasa.gov. NASA/LeRC intends to purchase the DICES III UPGRADE from Qunitron Systems, Inc. The authority permitting other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1). NASA/LeRC's existing DICES II audio system requires increased performance capability to support upcoming Space Station simulations and mission support, and interface with the MSFC audio system for voice communications. Quintron Systems, Inc. is the only company who can perform the upgrade because the DICES system's architectural design is proprietary to Quintron. Furthermore, the Quintron upgrade is compatible with the existing Government-owned DICES II system hardware resulting in both time and cost savings for the Government versus purchasing a new audio system from another vendor.
