MARKET SURVEY-BATTERIES, USACECOM is currently attempting to identify potential production sources for non-rechargeable lithium batteries. The goal of this search is to identify those companies who would be willing to bid on a solicitation to be issued during FY99. The solicitation will contain the BA-X590. Other configurations may be added in the future based on the need of the Government. Projected minimum and maximum quantities for the solicitation are not available at this time. Potential offerors must submit hardware samples of the BA-X590 and have a production ability in place capable of meeting the BA-X590 technical requirements in accordance with MIL-PRF-49471 at time of proposal receipt in order to be eligible for award. The first delivery would be no more than ten months after award. The solicitation will also include the requirement for Direct Vendor Delivery(DVD). Potential offerors will be required to have the cell production and battery assembly collocated within the same facility. This notice is not a request for proposals. Organizations may express their interest in writing no later than 10 working days after publication of this announcement. This response should include which batteries they may bid against and a brief description of their abilities to design and build such a battery.
