A -- DESIGN, PREPARATION AND EXCAVATION WORK FOR CALIBRATION EXPERIMENT(S) AS PART OF THE DEGELEN MOUNTAIN TUNNEL NEUTRALIZATION PROGRAM, KAZAKHSTAN POC Brian Wilt, Negotiator, (703) 325-6960, Scott Morton, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-1200 In accordance with an agreement dated 3 Oct 95, and amended 10 Jun 96, between the Department of Defense (DoD) of the United States and the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) plans to award a sole source modification to contract DSWA01-98-C-0016 with the National Nuclear Center (NNC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the custodian of the former Semipalatinsk Test Site in Kazakhstan. Tasks will be added to the existing contract to cover design, preparation and excavation work for calibration experiments which include preparing a project design for a large-scale calibration experiment in a 600 cubic meter chamber to be constructed in a specified tunnel and the associated excavation of a 600 cubic meter chamber.
