N -- WILLIAMETTE VALLEY EXCITER INSTALLATION SOL DACW57-98-B-0009 DUE 090998 POC Contract Specialist MARTINA HARWOOD (503) 808-4614 (Site Code DACW57) The work entails the removal and disposal of seven (7) rotating exciters and appurtenances and the installation of seven (7) new ABB digital excitation systems and power potential transformers at four hydroelectric projects located in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Some of the existing equipment to be removed is known to contain asbestos. The installation will also include new power, control, and annunciation circuits along with field testing and commissioning of each excitation system. The Contractor shall remove and dispose of the existing rotating exciters and appurtenances from three (3) hydroelectric power generators at Lookout Point Powerhouse; one (1) hydroelectric power generator at Dexter Powerhouse; two (2) hydroelectric power generators at Detroit Powerhouse; and one (1) hydroelectric power generator at Big Cliff Powerhouse. The Contractor shall install three (3) new ABB digital excitation systems and power potential transformers at Lookout Point Powerhouse; one (1) at Dexter Powerhouse, two (2) at Detroit Powerhouse, and one (1) at Big Cliff Powerhouse. Contractor will be required to design the generator tap for the power potential transformers at each Project location. All installations include new power, control, and annunciation circuits for each of the excitation systems along with switchboard modifications. Installation will include field-testing and commissioning of the excitation systems. Contractor required to commence work within 150 calendar days. Estimated cost range is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Invitation for Bid will be available on or about August 12, 1998. Tentative bid opening is September 9, 1998.
