This is a modification to the synopsis entitled thruster valves for the X-38 cold gas attitude control system 9-BE13-44-8-30P which was posted on July 2, 1998. You are notified that the following description has been included for clarity purposes: The ACS is a pressure-regulated cold-gas nitrogen system which is used to provide spacecraft attitude control during on-orbit and high-altitude entry phases of the X-38 flight. There are twenty-two (22) thrusters located in the aft and forward sections of the X-38 spacecraft. The nominal thrust level is 25 lbf at a nominal inlet pressure of 500 psia. NASA is interested in procuring the thruster valves only, with NASA providing the nozzle extensions which will mate to the valves, thereby creating the actual thruster. It is the intention of the Government to award a single contract for the production of thruster valves. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended.
