COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 9,1998 PSA#2133U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Division of Contracts, Attn: Linda
Wise MS-T-7I2, Washington, D.C. 20555 B -- TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT TO THE REGULATORY BODIES OF A
SELECTED NUMBER OF CENTRAL/EAST EUROPEAN (CEE) COUNTRIES AND THE FORMER
SOVIET UNION POC Elois J. Wiggins, Contracting Officer, 301-415-7328,
Sally Adams, Contract Specialist 301-415-6588 The US Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC) intends to negotiate a sole source modification with
Scientech, Inc., under Contract No. NRC-08-97-302 to provide for
additional expert regulatory assistance services to assist the NRC in
the provision of nuclear safety training of Lithuanian and other
Central/East European Countries and the Former Soviet Union. The
modification will increase the maximum ordering limitation (MOL) under
the contract by $712,000 for the 2-year base period of performance and
$384,000 for the 3-year option period for an estimated MOL of
$2,070,336. This increase to the MOL is necessary to accommodate an
unanticipated increase in the amount of assistance required to support
the Lithuanian Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate (VATESI) in
performing the analysis of safety deficiencies identified at the
Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP). Interruption in these services
would impact the NRC's ability to fulfill its international commitment
under a multinational nuclear safety assistance program to ensure
performance of an adequate nuclear safety review of the INPP facility.
