40 -- WIRE ROPE SOL N68335-98-R-0295 POC June Manganello (732) 323-2735 or Facsimile (732) 323-2908 Wire Rope shall be 1 7/16 inch diameter (nominal), right-hand lang lay, flattened strand construction of the following type: 6 BY 30 Type G -- Six(6) strands of 12 outer layer wires/12 inner layer wires with a plaited triangular center consisting of three (3) paris of two (2) twisted wires. Spun yarn polyester core suitably sized for effective strand support. The wire rope shall demonstrate a minimum breaking strength of 205,000 pounds when tested and a tensile test is required for each shipping reel. The manufacturer shall furnish wire rope as specified for examination and testing to prove that their production methods will produce wire rope that will comply with the requirements of the specification (Pre-Production Reel). The wire rope reels shall contain a minimum of 3000 feet of cable. An additional 125 foot coil (per reel) shall be provided for full scale dynamic acceptance testing by the Government.
