e-mail, mnorton@email.usps.gov. The US Postal Service is seeking
sources for prequalification of manufacturers of Linear Parcel Sorting
machines. These machines are used primarily in Processing and
Distribution Centers, Bulk Mail Centers, and Airport Mail Facilities to
sort bundles, packages, and padded envelopes weighing up to 50 pounds
and into as many as 90 separations. Optional, enhanced features would
include the ability to sort mail trays and read bar codes. Many USPS
sites have deployed local versions commonly referred to as Linear
Integrated parcel Sorters (LIPS). The sorting machine, if qualified and
approved, would be featured in the USPS Engineering Supported Catalog
of Approved Products (ESCAP) for field procurement. This does not
necessarily guarantee that any of the machines would be purchased by
the USPS; however, any purchase of this type would be purchased only
from a prequalified vendor. All machines will need to comply with USPS
STD-1001 for Safety and Ergonomic factors regarding Linear Parcel
Sorting Machines. Interested vendors may request a Prequalification
Package by contacting the individual at the address below: US Postal
