34 -- TO FABRICATE AND INSTALL A NEW SCRUBBER FOR THE 120MM PLATING FACILITY AT WATERVLIET ARSENAL, IAW SPEC #9-98-3426 SOL DAAA09-98-R-3085 DUE 100198 POC Contract Specialist Margaret L. Vols (309) 782-8666 (Site Code DAAA09) To fabricate and install a new scrubber for the 120MM plateing faclity at Watervliet Arsenal, in accordance with specification number 9-98-3426. Must remove and dispose of the existing fume exhaust scrubber. The system shall operate from a single source of electrical power supply to the existing main control panel. The entire system shall be designed for continuous duty cycle operation start/stop switches shall be disigned to operate the scrubber pumps and scrubber fan in manual mode (for preventive maintenance). The mesh pad and/or pads will be washed using timed controls as determined necessary by the scrubber manufacturer. Standby pumps will start automatically upon failure of the operating pump. Water makeup to the first stage will be controlled by the auxiliary contact on the pump starter. The water makeup rate shall be controlled by a gate valve and an inline flowmeter. Water makeup to the various stages, as determined by the scrubber manufacturer will be controlled by the conductivity controllerand be set as determined by the scrubber manufacturer (maximum allowed 500 mmhos/cm). A float valve located in the pump box will compensate for any water loss due to evaporation and be a backup for the water makeup system. Approximate issue date is 09-01-98 with opening date 30 days from issue.
