Y -- THE DALLES NORTH FISHWAY AWS SYSTEM REPAIR SOL DACW57-98-B-0011 DUE 100198 POC Contract Specialist MARTINA HARWOOD (503) 808-4614 (Site Code DACW57) Various features of the North Fishway Auxiliary Water Supply System have deteriorated since 1991 and are in need of repair. The North Fishway is located in Klickitat County, Washington on the North shore of The Dalles Lock and Dam, The Dalles, Oregon. The rock walls of the Lower Plunge Pool has deteriorated to the degree that it is unsafe. The required repair work consists of stabilizing the left and right walls of the lower plunge pool utilizing patterned and spotted 20 foot deep tensioned rock bolts, 0.5 foot x 18.0 foot x half inch thick mine straps and wire mesh (welded wire, chain link or torpedo netting) and tensioned and post tensioned rock bolts with mine straps for the stabilization of the right abutment of the service bridge. Other work in this contract will be to scale the rock walls and remove the loose rock debris from the bottom of the plunge pool. Optional work will include (1) stabilization of the back wall with 20 foot deep tensioned rock bolts and mine straps, (2) stabilization of theleft wall of the fish ladder with 20 foot deep tensioned rock bolts and mine straps and (3) stabilization of the left abutment of the access bridge across the fish ladder utilizing 20 foot deep un-tensioned and post-tensioned rock bolts and mine straps. There will be large and small dental concrete work included in this contract. The work will require a crane and skiff or skiff with a mounted drill. The work is hazardous in nature. A site visit will be scheduled. Site photographs are available for viewing at the Portland District, Geotechnical Engineering Branch, Geology Section Office. To be eligible for award, offeror must have specialized expertise in this type of construction based on successful performance of similar projects. This work is required to be completed between 1 December 1998 and 28 February 1999. Inclement weather is to be expected. The Invitation for bid will be available on or about 1 September 1998. Tentative Bid Opening is 1 October 1998. This procurement is open to both large and small businesses, the size standard for which is a concern with annual receipts not to exceed $17 million.
