Taylor,PA 301-402-2282/Carolyn Sentz, Contracting Officer,301-402-2282
This is a combined synopsis/notice of intent to procure the Amersham
AKTA FPLC Liquid Chromatography System Cat# 13-3300-01 combined with
AKTA FPLC Cat#18-1118-67. This system has the ability to purify
biomolecules from complex starting materials derived from cell lysates,
tissue homogenates recombinant protein expression systems and other
sources. The system will be able to perform separations based on a
variety of sample characteristics, such as molecular weight, net
surface charge, hydrophobicity, while retaining biological activity.
This system consist of the following items; (a) Amersham Motor Valve
PV-908 Cat#18-1108-41 (b) Amersham pH Flow Cell with Dummy Cat#
18-1112-92; (c) Amersham pH Electrode pH/C-900 Cat#18-1111-26; (d)
Amersham Sample Pump p-910 Cat# 18-113-86; (e) Tube Rack 12mm Delta (f)
Compaq Deskpro 2000 system control unit Cat# 13-3188-01; and HP deskjet
692c w/cable Cat#13-3043-01. This instrument will be used in setting up
research facility and was selected as an upgrade to an existing
instrument. It has the following unique features for sole source
justification. (1) Has the ability to purify biomolecules from complex
starting materials based on a variety of characteristics such as
molecular weight, net surface charge, hyrophobicity, while retaining
biological activity. (2) Has a flow rate range of 0.05-20ml/min and
pressure ranges from 0-5mpa with high accuracy and precision in
gradient fromation. (3) Has combination/integrated in-line monitoring
of uv (0.01 to 5.0 AUFS), conductivity (1uS/cm to 999mS/cm), and ph
(range 0-14 in 0.1 unit accuracy) all in one unit for lowest possible
system dead vol. (4) Has motorized PV-908 valves that accommodate up to
seven columns upgraded for compatibility from previous system plus one
column bypass for washes and calibrations, facilitating column
cleaning, storage, and use of columns. (5) Fraction collection by
automatic peak detection or collection by vol. (6) System controller
and unique software capability to monitor 3 pumps, 9 motorized valves,
a fraction collector, a gradient mixer, a UV monitor, a conductivity
monitor, a pH monitor, and 3 air sensors. The provision at FAR
52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors Commerical, applies to this
acquisition except that there is no SF 1449 solicitation cover sheet.
A blank form of the representations and certifications document, which
must be completed as required by 52-212-4, Contract terms and
Conditions-Commerical Items applies to this acquisition. The clause at
52-212-5, Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Statues
or Executive Orders-Commerical Items applies to this acquisition. The
clauses of subpart (b), which apply, are 6 and 10. Any response is due
no later than 3:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, September 9, 1998, to
Linda Taylor. For delivery through the postal service the address is
room 1 C 38, Solar Building, NIH/NIAID, 6003 Executive Blvd.,
Rockville, Md 20852. Electronic submission will not be accepted.
Request for information concerning this requirement is to be address to
Linda Taylor, 301-402-2282. Collect calls will not be accepted. Posted
