DESIGN-BUILD INFORMATIONAL CONFERENCE Southern Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command and Engineering Activity, Midwest at Great Lakes, IL will host a seminar to provide information on new and evolving contracting methods designed to promote enhanced quality and value in future construction projects. The seminar will be held September 3, 1998 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Hyatt Hotel in Deerfield Illinois. Agenda topics are expected to include the Design-Build process, Best Value Source Selection, Multiple Award Contracts, Sustainable Design and related topics. An overview on current and planned construction projects in the EFA Great Lakes area of responsiblity will also be covered. Plans for use of these new contracting methods represent a significant change in the way construction and design services will be contracted for in the future. The new contracting tools provide opportunities for increased partnering with design and construction contractors and customers, streamlining of the design process, rapid resolution of design questions during construction and overall decreased time in delivering of the final product. This seminar is intended to provide the contracting community with the introductory information necessary to remain well postured in the changing contracting enviroment.
