COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 13,1998 PSA#2158U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Contracting and General Services, P.O Box
1306, Albuquerque, NM 87103-1306 19 -- JET BOAT SOL 201818Q071 DUE 082898 POC Liz Miller, 505-248-6622
BACKGROUND STATEMENT: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Imperial National
Wildlife Refuge includes approximately 30 miles of the lower Colorado
River. The Refuge receives over 80,000 visits per year from boaters who
recreate along this reach. The river in this stretch is shallow and
braided with numerous sand bars, making navigation difficult at times
with certain types of boats. Most recreational boaters operate "jet"
boats, "jet skis", or other shallow draft watercraft. Most power boats
that visitors are operating on the Refuge have high horsepower engines
(150-400 hp) and are capable of high speeds. In order to more
efficiently and safely perform law enforcement duties on the river, it
is necessary to have a patrol boat that does not draft much water, is
safe, quick, and very maneuverable. This is a combined
synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This anouncement constitutes the
only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. Request for Quotation (RFQ)
