Swanson, Contract Specialist, (931) 454-4409 This procurement is for two 6-component, strain-gaged balances and a calibration body. The balances shall be identical in all aspects with the exception of the rolling moment capacities. Balance rated capacities are as follows: Normal Force (NF) lbs @ 0 PM -- 8,000; Pitching Moment (PM) in-lbs @ 0 NF -- 72,000; Side Force (SF) lbs @ 0 YM -- 4,000; Yawing Moment (YM) in-lbs @ 0 SF -- 31,000; Rolling Moment (RM) in-lbs -- one at 15,000 and one at 40,000; Axial Force (AF) lbs -- 1,000. These loadings are for PM and YM referenced to the balance center. All strain gages shall be foil-type, epoxy bonded, wired into four arm bridges. The balance shall have a taper attachment at the sting end matching the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) 2.960 standard taper specifications. The balance shall have a cylindrical model attachment 3.9995/3.9991 inches in diameter. The balance shall be secured to the model or calibration body with class RC1 fit pins located in the normal and side planes. Special standards of responsibility apply to this acquisition in accordance with FAR 9.104-2(a).
